Create a Conscious, Purposeful & Powerful Life of Love

Join Marianne Williamson, internationally acclaimed lecturer, activist, and bestselling author, on Saturday, December 28, to explore how to transform yourself and our world through the power of love.

Do you find yourself holding back from truly loving yourself and others?

The truth is, we live in a culture in which the forces of fear, polarization, and even hate constantly swirl around us…

… and the natural reaction is to shut down, defend, and protect ourselves. Sometimes love can feel too vulnerable to deeply express.

Yet, when we live like this, we don’t shine the way we’re meant to.

Our capacity for greatness is directly connected to our ability to stand AS love and to truly love everyone — especially those who don’t express love in return. Love empowers us to evolve ourselves and change our world.

Transform yourself and our world through the power of love

Marianne Williamson, internationally acclaimed lecturer, activist, and bestselling author, has become a living legend of love, having taught the spiritual principles behind a life of love for decades…

In a revealing hour with the founder of The Shift Network, Marianne will lay out the key principles for living AS love. She’ll reveal how she practices love personally and with others, even in heated national arenas.

Discover and Live Your Dharma

Enjoy this Sounds True podcast of an interview with Stephen Cope as they discuss the wisdom found in the Bhagavad Gita and the many ways this ancient parable can be applied to modern life.

They speak about discovering and living out your dharma—the true purpose of your life. They discuss the wisdom found in the Bhagavad Gita and the many ways this ancient parable can be applied to modern life. Stephen explains why “missing by an inch is the same as missing by a mile,” as well as why we need to decide what not to do in order to bring our gifts to life. Finally, Tami and Stephen talk about the concept of being a warrior and what this means as we bring our unique skills to bear in a world that needs them more than ever.

Stephen Cope is the scholar emeritus at Kripalu Yoga Center and the director of the Kripalu Institute for Extraordinary Living, as well as the bestselling author of The Wisdom of Yoga and The Great Work of Your Life. With Sounds True, Stephen has produced an eight-week online course titled Your True Calling: Essential Teachings of Yoga to Find Your Path in the World.

The Great Work Of Your Life

Stephen’s excellent book The Great Work of Your Life: A Guide for the Journey to Your True Calling brings the Bhagavad-Gita, a classic Hindu spiritual text, to life. The Bhagavad-Gita, the cornerstone of the yogic tradition, has Arjuna the greatest warrior of his era being counseled by Krishna his divine charioteer.

Arjuna is struggling and is prone laying down on his chariot can’t get himself to go to war. Lots of drama going on in the scene and Krishna advises him on how to live his Dharma.

The Four Pillars of Dharma

Dharma is what Krishna is advising Arjuna about in the Bhagavad-Gita and Stephen helps us bring that to life in our modern lives and many shares stories of extraordinary people who have discovered and most fully lived their Dharma. Everyone from Walt Whitman and Henry David Thoreau to Susan B. Anthony and Ghandi. An extraordinary array of individuals whose stories he uses to help us understand how we can discover and live our sacred calling.

The Sanskrit word Dharma is impossible to translate into one English word. The basic idea in terms of this book is basically your vocation, your sacred duty, your calling, what are you here to do. It also means the essence of who you are, the truth of your being, that part of you that makes you, you.

The book is about understanding the four pillars of Dharma.

The First Pillar: Look to your Dharma (Discover)

You need to discover your Dharma, know your unique gift/vocation. We all have a seed of potential, a gift that we’ve been giving, our duty is to bring that to life. We need to discover, not create, what that is.

You have gifts and possibilities that no one else has. What’s the special offering that you can make in the current difficulty that no one else can make.

Here are actions you can do to help discover and live your Dharma:

  1. List what is in your life right now that is most lighting you up. (prioritize your list and keep the top three)
  2. List what you think your deepest duty in your life, what is it that if you do not do it that you will feel a profound sense of self betrayal. (prioritize your list and keep the top three)
  3. List the challenges and difficulties that you are facing in your life. (prioritize your list and keep the top three)
  4. Take the prioritized list from the first three steps and write down the five words that best describe your Dharma.
  5. Write down the things/actions that support you which you want to enhance moving forward.
  6. Write down the things/actions that are unnecessary, that may work against your Dharma, that you want to stop doing and let go.

The Second Pillar: Do It Full Out (All In)

Once you discover your Dharma, what your ultimate calling, your sacred duty, you need to go all-in. You need to dedicate your entire life to your Dharma.

When you decide to go all-in on anything in your life, you cut off other options. Now that’s really challenging to do because that requires a level of courage. You can’t hedge your bets, which means you say no to a lot of other things.

On a macro level you need to decide what you’re going to commit your life force, your soul force as Steven describes it. On a micro level we need to say no to all the distractions that get in the way.

Structured all the conditions of your life so that you can most fully give yourself. Created the conditions for your life to flourish.

Our job is to cultivate and create the conditions through which our gift can reach its potential. Have you created the conditions of your life in such a manner that you can flourish?

Know when your energy is at its best. How can you optimize your conditions?

The Third Pillar: Let Go of the Fruits

Focus on the process over results. Let go of outcomes and focus on doing your best, day in and day out. Let go of the fruits of your labor is how Krishna puts it.

Look for the open doors instead of spending your efforts trying to open ones that are not open.

The Fourth Pillar Turn it Over To God (You to Zero)

Turn your entire life over to God. Gandhi described it as reducing himself to zero.

Free Your Emotions through Yoga Breathing, Body Awareness, and Energetic Release – Audio Download $13.10.

Something magical happens when you’re able to get out of the way and let God take over and shine through. Releasing the God within, reducing ourselves to zero such that God can be fully present.

Develop your fundamentals, develop your core practices that allow you to be a healthy human being such that you can actualize and then move beyond your ego and transcend yourself.

Abraham Maslow describes in the hierarchy of needs start at the basic level and moved up to self-actualization. But that wasn’t the end. After you self actualized, you self transcended. You reduced yourself to zero and you gave your life to something bigger than yourself.

Increased Income and Energy through Purging

If you are thinking of downsizing or just want to purge items you may have lying around your home, you can earn a bit of cash. You may even feel lighter with a sense of relief.

Regardless of how much stuff we have, we can all benefit from decluttering our lives and homes. According to Psychology Today and Web MD, people tend to feel like life is out of control when they surround themselves with more things than they can manage. The mess causes stress. If you’re not taking care of the clutter in your home, you may not be taking care of yourself either.

The things or objects we have in our life can bring joy or help in living a happy life.  By getting into the energy flow of releasing the items that you no longer need or use may free you up to attract those items which may better serve you. Plus, you even earn extra cash in the process.

Below are several ways to help you in your purging journey.

Pricing Your Items

Before trying to sell your items you will want to do a bit of research to see what the price of an available similar item – both new and used prices. We have listed shopping sites to compare prices below.

The condition of the item matters. A general rule is that well maintained used items will typically sell for 25% to 50% of its original value. Antiques and collectibles will vary in pricing based on timing (seasons) and market interest.

Yard Sale

Yard sales are cash in hand immediately, if you have many items to purge and want to sell quickly, a yard sale is a good option. However, it takes a bit of preparation. Some cities require that you have a permit to run a garage sale. Check with a clerk at your city or town hall to find out if you need one.

You will want to pick a date – Saturday mornings are most popular. Friday and Sunday are viable options too. Weather can be a big factor on a successful yard sale. If possible, select a date when the weather is moderate.

Make sure you have plenty of ones and fives in order to provide change. Be sure to keep any extra money in the house during the garage sale. You don’t want too much of cash outside.

There are many local sites you can advertise your yard sale such as your local paper, Craigslist, NextDoor, and Facebook Marketplace. Post the listing a few days prior to the sale to get optimal exposure. At a minimum you will want to create or buy signs to put along the street and at nearby intersections.

Selling Individual Items Online

Here are a few of the major online auction and sales sites. Some sites charge fees and others are free.

EBay lets you auction and sell a wide range of goods. You will most likely be shipping the item, and that may reduce your profits. We have found that smaller or lighter items work best on this site, especially collectables.

For most items, you pay eBay 10% of the final sale price of the item. This includes shipping costs but not taxes.

You can also upgrade and promote your eBay listing in various ways for extra fees. We recommend to stick with the no fee listing to keep cost down. Be sure to include quality pictures of the item, including any manufacture labels for authenticity.

We use “Buy It Now”, which is a fixed price, and add a “Best Offer” options. The “Buy It Now” is the highest price that you have valued the item. For the Best Offer, include an “Automatically decline offers lower than” the price that you would be willing to sell the item. This will help minimize people trying to low ball you and you can counter offer when someone you now know has an interest in the item.

Facebook Marketplace, NextDoor, Letgo, and Craigslist

These websites and apps don’t take a cut of your sales. Yet you are responsible for connecting with your buyer, meeting up in person and making the exchange. It’s definitely a different style than the online auctions and sales. If you’re not comfortable handling all the logistics yourself and then meeting up with a stranger, you should probably stick to online only.

These sites are excellent for selling larger, heavier items (such as furniture) locally so there isn’t the expense of trying to ship them.

Depending on what you’re selling, you can arrange to meet your buyer in a public place (local police station, library, post office or grocery store are good places for such sales) or have a friend hang around while you make the sale.

Simplicity is the key here: no packing, shipping or fees. But unlike many online-only sales sites, these marketplaces don’t have any guarantees or protections if your buyer turns out to be a flake.

Be sure to agree to a price before arranging pickup. If during pickup they try to renegotiate (assuming nothing has changed), stick to your original price and walk away if necessary. Most people will stick with the price they originally agreed since they made the effort to meet you.

From recent experience, Facebook Marketplace and NextDoor have had excellent results. Craigslist is one of the oldest sites and has a good following. Letgo is an up and coming app with an easy interface.

Dealing With Items That Don’t Sell

It is likely you will have items that did not sell. With less effort you can just put it all on the curb with a free sign. Another option is taking the leftover items to a local charity that has a thrift store. Search for non-profit thrift stores in your area.

Make an itemized list of everything you have with its original value. Once you drop it at a donation center, ask for a receipt. File this away to use for a tax deduction for charitable donations on your income taxes.

What’s True For You Will Make You Lighter

All of our lives, people are telling us what’s true, what’s not true, what we should do, what we shouldn’t do, what’s a good choice, what’s a bad choice… On and on it goes. In the midst of all of the points of view that others try to impel, it can be challenging to know what’s true for you.

A tool that will help silence the other voices and access YOUR knowing is called light and heavy. In this video, Dr. Dain Heer shows you exactly how to use this tool.

“What is true for you will always makes you feel lighter and a lie will make you feel heavier.”

Use this when tool you’re making choices. Is this choice light? Or is it heavy? Choose what’s light.

Use it when talking to people. Is what they’re saying light? Or is it heavy? If it’s heavy, it’s not true for you so don’t buy it.

If you were to only follow what’s light for you for the next 6 months, I wonder what changes would occur in your world?

But don’t try it… You might have too much fun!

If you would like to know even more about the light and heavy tool, you can watch this fun video conversation with Gary and Dain.

Access Consciousness offers pragmatic tools to change things in your life that you haven’t been able to change until now.

The aim of Access is to create a world of consciousness and oneness, where everything exists and nothing is judged. Are you ready to expand the level of choices and possibilities that are available to you?

  • Questions change the energy of what you have decided is unchangeable.

“A question always empowers. An answer always disempowers.” – Gary Douglas

A great question to start with is

Here’s a short, 2 minute audio clip where Dr. Dain Heer explains how to use this question to create change:

A Meditation for Prosperous Living

The Center for Spiritual Living Asheville has developed a class called the Summer Prosperity Series which it offers annually during the summer. The 2019 class is currently in progress and can be accessed for free from their website

An integral part of this class is what they call “My Treatment For Prosperity,” an affirmative prayer to attract Prosperity into your life.

Prosperity Builder Meditation

We have adapted this prayer into a mediation that you can repeat regularly. The prayer is repeated three times and you are encouraged to participate by saying the words along with the recording.

Inspired by

Prosperity Prayer

We have also created this one minute recording of the Prosperity Prayer which can be repeated throughout the day.

Inspired by

We recommend beginning and ending each day by reading the prayer aloud.

I know that God is the source of all supply
and that money is God in action.

I know that my good is here now.

I am so rich and so full that I have an abundance
of money to spare and to share, today and always.

I know that true Prosperity includes perfect health,
perfect wealth and perfect happiness.

These words which I speak in faith,
now activates Universal Law,
and I accept the results!

I bless all that I have now and I bless the increase.

I bless everyone in my life that supports me in this journey
and I know that we now prosper together

in every way.

I give thanks for this Good.

And so it is!

Clear is Kind. Unclear is Unkind.

Adapted from Dare to Lead by Brené Brown

We started our interviews with senior leaders with one question: What, if anything, about the way people are leading today needs to change in order for leaders to be successful in a complex, rapidly changing environment where we’re faced with seemingly intractable challenges and an insatiable demand for innovation?

There was one answer across the interviews: We need braver leaders and more courageous cultures.

To better understand, we followed up by asking, Why courage? and What’s getting in the way of building more daring cultures? Of the ten behaviors and cultural issues that leaders identified as barriers to courage, there was one issue that leaders ranked as the greatest concern: Avoiding tough conversations, including giving honest, productive feedback.

Some leaders attributed this to a lack of courage, others to a lack of skills, and, shockingly, more than half talked about a cultural norm of “nice and polite” that’s leveraged as an excuse to avoid tough conversations.

Brené BrownBrené Brown, PhD, LMSW is a research professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work who has spent the past 10 years studying vulnerability, courage, authenticity, and shame. She is a nationally renowned speaker and has won numerous teaching awards, including the college’s Outstanding Faculty Award. Her groundbreaking work has been featured on PBS, NPR, and CNN. Her 2010 TEDxHouston talk on the power of vulnerability is one of most watched talks on Her most recent TED talk, “Listening to Shame,” was released in March 2012.

Whatever the reason, there was saturation across the data that the consequences of avoiding tough conversations or tapping out of a difficult rumble as soon as it gets uncomfortable include:

  1. Diminishing trust and engagement;
  2. Increases in problematic behavior, including passive-aggressive behavior, talking behind people’s backs, pervasive backchannel communication (or “the meeting after the meeting”), gossip, and the “dirty yes” (when I say yes to your face and then go behind your back); and
  3. Decreasing performance due to a lack of clarity and shared purpose.

Over the past several years, my team and I have learned something about clarity and the importance of hard conversations that has changed everything from the way we talk to each other to the way we negotiate with external partners. It’s simple but transformative: Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind.

I first heard this saying two decades ago in a 12-step meeting, but I was on slogan overload at the time and didn’t even think about it again until I saw the data about how most of us avoid clarity because we tell ourselves that we’re being kind, when what we’re actually doing is being unkind and unfair.

Feeding people half-truths or bullshit to make them feel better (which is almost always about making ourselves feel more comfortable) is unkind.

Not getting clear with a colleague about your expectations because it feels too hard, yet holding them accountable or blaming them for not delivering is unkind.

Talking about people rather than to them is unkind.
This lesson has so wildly transformed my life that we live by it at home. If Ellen is trying to figure out how to handle a college roommate issue or Charlie needs to talk to a friend about something . . . clear is kind. Unclear is unkind.

When we have to show up for a hard conversation we call it “a rumble.” For us, this is more than just a weird West Side Story way to say, “Let’s have a real conversation, even if it’s tough.” It’s become a serious intention and a behavioral cue or reminder.

A rumble is a discussion, conversation, or meeting defined by a commitment to lean into vulnerability, to stay curious and generous, to stick with the messy middle of problem identification and solving, to take a break and circle back when necessary, to be fearless in owning our parts, and, as psychologist Harriet Lerner teaches, to listen with the same passion with which we want to be heard.

More than anything else, when someone says, “Let’s rumble,” it cues me to show up with an open heart and mind so we can serve the work and each other, not our egos. Armoring up and protecting our egos rarely leads to productive, kind, and respectful conversations.

Drumming the Four Elements: A Meditative Drumming Practice for Connecting to Nature

Which of the four elements in nature would you like to call into your life.

You could engage the grounded influence of earth or the changing power of wind…

You could nourish yourself in the cleansing elements of water or ignite the passion and transformation of fire

Through the meditative practice of drumming, you can connect with and embody the power of nature’s elements by anchoring your rhythm in a distinct sound.

In this 3-minute video, Christine Stevens demonstrates the distinct sounds of the four elements on the frame drum — and how you can evoke the power of these elements through the sacred practice of drumming.

As you shift your paradigm from playing the drum as “music” to making music with a drum as a spiritual practice, you’ll begin to forge a deepening connection with nature and invite creativity, sacredness, and meaning into your life.

Don’t miss these highlights:

  • (0:01) — How the four elements have a sacred connection to the drum sounds
  • (0:52) — Learn to drum out the distinct sounds of nature: air (cha), earth (doum), water (kah), and fire (tak)

How to Get Your Really Truly Free Credit Reports

Avoid Fakes

You’ve seen the commercials, e-mails andwebpites advertising “Free Credit Report” But are they really free? Consumer complaints say no. Many reported having to supply a credit card, being charged for credit monitoring subscriptions they didn’t want, and in some cases not ever receiving the report they ordered.

Now you’ll really be able to get your credit report for free. As amendment to the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months, from

Submit Verification

You’ll need to provide your name, address, social security number and date of birth to order your report. To verify your identity, you may need to provide some information that only you would know, like the amount of your monthly mortgage payment or information about some other item that might appear on your credit report.

You may order your reports from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies at the same time, or you can order one free copy from each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies every 12 months.

Monitor Regularly

You may choose to stagger receiving your reports throughout the year, in order to monitor your credit year-round for free. Credit scores are not included in the free reports. A “reasonable fee” will still be charged to obtain a credit score.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nations’s consumer protection agency, has prepared a very thorough brochure. Your Access to free Credit Reports, explaining your rights and how to order a free annual credit report. You can access the brochure here.

Credit Report Dispute Form

The SAMPLE LETTER Credit report dispute guide from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau provides information and tools you can use if you believe that your credit report contains information that is inaccurate or incomplete, and you would like to submit a dispute of that information to the credit reporting company.

It is important to dispute inaccurate information with both the credit reporting company that created the report and the company that first reported the inaccurate information, often
called the furnishing company. While this packet provides information about disputing inaccurate information with a credit reporting company, you can find information about disputing inaccurate information with a furnishing company at files.

Freeze Your Credit for Free to Protect Against Identify Theft

If you have not heard of freezing your credit then you will want to read on.

In the summer of 2017, 143 million American consumers whose sensitive personal information was exposed in a data breach at Equifax, one of the nation’s three major credit reporting agencies.

The breach lasted from mid-May through July, with hackers accessed people’s names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some instances, driver’s license numbers. They also stole credit card numbers for about 209,000 people and dispute documents with personal identifying information for about 182,000 people. And they grabbed personal information of people in the UK and Canada too.

Free credit freezes are here

Thanks to a federal law passed in 2018, anyone that has data with the three credit reporting agencies can freeze their account with that agency.

Security freezes, also known as credit freezes, restrict access to your credit file, making it harder for identity thieves to open new accounts in your name. As of September 21, 2018, you can freeze and unfreeze your credit file for free. You also can get a free freeze for your children who are under 16. And if you are someone’s guardian, conservator or have a valid power of attorney, you can get a free freeze for that person, too.

How will these freezes work? Contact all three of the nationwide credit reporting agencies listed in the matrix below. If you request a freeze online or by phone, the agency must place the freeze within one business day. When requesting a lift of the freeze, the agency must lift it within one hour. If you make your request by mail, the agency must place or lift the freeze within three business days after it gets your request. You can lift the freeze temporarily without a fee at any time.

Don’t confuse freezes with locks. They work in a similar way, but locks may have monthly fees. If you want a free freeze guaranteed by federal law, then opt for a freeze, not a lock.

Request Your Credit Freeze for Free

Placing a security freeze on your credit reports can block an identity thief from opening a new account or getting credit in your name. Setting up and managing security freezes are free of charge.

To establish your security freezes, you will need to contact each of the three credit bureaus. The links below will direct you to the credit bureaus webpage with instructions or you can go directly to their online form:

Equifax Experian TransUnion
Online Form Online Form Online Form

(Note: The links above will take you to the websites for the three credit bureaus.)

Be prepared to provide detailed information about yourself, including:

  • Your Full Name
  • Your Address
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your Social Security Number

(Note: The credit bureaus already have this information in their files.
You will be providing it to verify your identity.)

Keep Your PINs or Passwords Safe

When you freeze your credit, the company will send you confirmation of the placement of the freeze along with information on how to remove the freeze, including any authentication information you will need, such as a PIN (Personal Identification Number) or password. The information should be sent to you no later than five business days after placing the freeze. Make sure to keep this authentication information in a safe place.

Lifting or Removing Your Freeze

When it’s time to apply for new credit or loan, you will need to temporarily lift the freeze online, with each of the credit bureaus, for the lender to be able to pull your credit. Some employers do back ground checks that include a credit check, this would be another reason to temporarily lift a credit freeze.

You can request that a freeze be lifted for a specified period of time or removed by making the request to each of the credit bureaus and providing proper identification. The credit bureaus must lift or remove a freeze one hour after receiving the request when the consumer makes the request by telephone or online. If the request is made by mail, the credit bureaus must lift or remove the freeze within 3 days after receiving such a request.

Update: Equifax Data Breach Settlement

On July 22, 2019, Equifax agreed to a global settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and 50 U.S. states and territories.

First, if your information (most importantly, your social security number) was part of the hack, then you should assume it’s out there forever. Even if someone hasn’t stolen your identity yet, it could still happen.

Second, even if you file for reimbursement, there’s a good chance you won’t actually get the full $125 that Equifax and the FTC are talking about. Things are worded carefully in the agreement, but the bottom line is there’s a limited amount of money in the payout pool, and it won’t cover $125 checks for 147 million people.

Given all that, the biggest loophole you should be aware of is that if you do nothing, you will automatically waive your right to take legal action against Equifax in the future.

Learn if your data was stolen in the breach

Check if your data was stolen by entering the last six digits of your social security number and your last name on the Equifax form, (or call 833-759-2982). If it was not stolen, you are not eligible and you can move on with your life without thinking about this settlement.

If your data was compromised . . . you have several options.

File for ‘Alternative Reimbursement Compensation’

Note: By doing this you waive your right to pursue legal action against Equifax in the future

Deadline: Jan. 22, 2020

You can file a claim for the standard payout, up to 10 years of credit monitoring — OR — up to $125 to if you already pay for credit monitoring. They are calling it the “Alternative Reimbursement Compensation,” and it is the most straightforward path you can take.

If you really want the cash, you can sign up for a free credit-monitoring service like CreditKarma. Some credit card companies and banking services (like Mint) also offer credit monitoring services.

Fine print reveals why a lot of people won’t get the full $125. They are only going to pay out that amount until the requests hit a $31 million cap. After that, the payouts will be lowered and distributed on a proportional basis. The total pool for restitution is $380.5 million.

File for a bigger reimbursement

Note: By doing this you waive your right to pursue legal action against Equifax in the future

Deadline: Jan. 22, 2020

If you have spent or lost money as a result of the hack (legal or accounting fees, or the money you lost because someone stole your identity and charged a large amount of money on accounts in your name, the money you spent freezing and unfreezing your credit, postage, etc.) then $125 isn’t going to be enough.

In this case, you could file a claim for up to $20,000. You will need to provide proof of time and money spent, and the process is more involved.

You can also just file for time spent as a result of the data breach, $25 per hour for up to 20 hours. If you claim more than 10 hours, the FTC writes, you must detail the actions you took and provide documentation to indicate identify theft or fraud. If you claim fewer than 10 hours, you only need to detail what actions you took and how much time was spent.

You do not have to prove your identity was stolen directly as a result of the 2017 breach, but it has to have to occurred after the breach. You must file a claim by Jan. 22, 2020. Learn more about how to file a claim online here, or via mail here. If you were a minor on May 13, 2017, you must download and mail in this claim form.

Don’t settle, keep the option to pursue your own legal action

Note: This is the only option in which you keep your right to sue Equifax in the future

Deadline: Nov. 19, 2019

It sounds counterintuitive, but if you were affected by the breach you are automatically included in this settlement. And it’s similar to some of the settlements you hear about in court — if you settle, you’re done. You cannot bring it up in court again. You cannot sue Equifax for harm caused by the breach, because you were already a member of the group that settled.

If you don’t want to settle, and you want to keep the option to take legal action against Equifax as an individual, you must opt out of the settlement by mailing a written “request for exclusion,” postmarked by Nov. 19, 2019, to the settlement administrator. If you do not meet that deadline, you lose the right to sue Equifax for the breach.

Read more about this process in Equifax’s Frequently Asked Questions under section 23.

If you do nothing

If you were impacted by the breach and opt do nothing, according to the settlement’s terms, you will not be eligible for any of the aforementioned benefits. Moreover, it means you will forfeit your right to sue Equifax for harm caused by the breach or continuing pursue separate claims you’ve filed.
